Benjamin was the grandson of Marco, the chocolate maker. They had to leave their home as part of the Jewish expulsion from Spain and start over in France, where, thanks to an accidental encounter with the king, they became very popular and could make their living in the new country. The book also has folded spreads with the history of chocolate and the process of manufacturing it.
